Biography
Charles Henry Lickorish was born on 5 February 1884 in Basford. He and Nellie D O Hopkins were married in 1912 in Aston. He died in March 1972, at age 88, in Basford. Charles Henry Lickorish was a police man in Birmingham, he joined the Birmingham police on November 20th 1906 and at that time was single. His warrant number was 7548 and personal identification number A176. On 2 August 1919 at the watch committee meeting it was reported that a number of Birmingham City police officers had gone on strike and they were dismissed, including Police Constable A176 Lickorish. About 120 police officers failed to report for duty during the strike. During the course of his police service, Constable Lickorish was awarded a gratuity of one guinea and complimented in force orders by the Watch Committee for his courageous conduct in stopping a runaway horse.
Have photo of him with his section ( 1st Section Birmingham City Police) on board ship in 1911 Hull Dock Strike
Have another of him at Hull on board a ship on which he was lodged during strike and on the reverse of this Post Card is written to his brother Sid at 29, Lady Margaret Road London. " Notice the ancient mariner. This was took at Hull on the boat we were put up on. Had rather a rough time at Liverpool was in the Lime Street do. Start my annual on Mon 11th. Think I shall go home. Suffering again from impe........ Hope to hear from you soon & that you are not suffering from any disorder" Chas. Post mark date 6th Sept 1911. He was a PoliceMan. He appeared in the census in 1911 in Police Station, Moore Street, Birmingham, Shows him as a Police Constable aged 27 with the Birmingham City Police.

He was a Railroad Agent. He appeared in the Psgr List on 18 December 1921 Arrived at Liverpool from Portland, Oregon USA with wife Margaret aboard the ship Megantic. Address given for staying in UK as Moore Road, Nottingham. Albert is a painter aged 36 years. According to Immigration it is thier intention to stay in UK.
